It was 15 hours of scrutiny, discussion and debate! In the end, a Tax Levy increase of 7.58% was passed for 2023. That was bit more than I could support and I voted against the motion. With the motion I put forward, it would have been closer to 6.5%. I urged council to use the Safe Start money to help pay from the RCMP police enhancement this year, but it was defeated. In the story below from the Prince George Citizen you will get a brief summary of robust discussions, including my comments on the Safe Start deferral motion. It is a very tough tax year but we move forward together!
